unimpressive caterpillar. The caterpillar is, sometimes, disliked or even hated by some farmers and

gardeners. The caterpillar undergoes a metamorphosis, transforming into a beautiful butterfly, a handiwork of God.

The caterpillar is just like us, isn't it? Unmolded, unchanged, full of sin and unworthy, waiting for our turn of change. Want to experience that change? Have you been trying but just can't do it? Then, why not let God change you this time? Come to the METAMORPHOSIS camp 2009! Experience the molding hand of God in your life.

Hi Crusaders,

It's exam time and everybody is zapped into busy mugging mode. For those who have this very bad procrastination problem, you better deal with it head on with God's help or you'll keep coming back to it until you overcome. Procrastination speaks into a deeper root problem, ie. stewardship of our time. Are we living and being conscious of the fact that we are living on borrowed time, after we have received eternal life through Christ, in which our lives have been redeemed by what Jesus has done on calvary?

15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. ~Ephesians 5:15-16

What are some ways you could do to stop yourself from procrastinating?
It boils down to priority and planning.

If you need to invest in an organiser, please do so, and if you don't want, you can DIY one out yourself.
You would need to prioritize the " important, unimportant, urgent, un-urgent."
For example, if you have a test one week from now and you have not started studying, stop wasting time any longer and get your butts down to your chair and start planning to complete your revision. You can ask people to pray for you and to be accountable to, but unless you make an effort to study, you can't expect God to grant you good grades when you slack away. You got to do your best and give God the rest.

Break down the chapters into bite-sized territory which you can conquer. Imagine yourself as a soldier, you don't try to conquer everything all in a day. You got to aim and then shoot, don't waste your ammo unnecessarily. You got to study SMART too. Ask God for insight and wisdom as to which chapters you should pay extra focus on and which are those you can just glance through. Stop fooling yourself if you want to do it yourself and only "hope" that God would intervene and help you. C'mon, how do you expect God to speak to you when you are not willing to listen and to feed on His word and to enjoy His presence and let His word dictate your life. We often PRAY for "good time managment, God's wisdom & strength and do well in studies etc", but how often do we PRAY for God to be magnified in our daily activities, how we speak, think and speak. "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." - Matthew 6:33

Also pay careful attention to our motives."When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." ~ James 4:3 We do not spend time with God so that we can get something out of Him, but we should do so because we love Him and delight ourselves in Him.

And ask ourselves why do we want to get good grades for, is it to show others how smart we are, all is it for God's glory. Sometimes, we can profess that all the glory goes to God, but we keep boasting about our good results, then it seems to me that we have very much wanted the glory to be for ourselves. "The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks." ~ Luke 6:45

Know that God is more concern of who you are rather that what we do for Him. If at the end of the day, you may be so successful, but in terms of letting God mold your character into Christ like-ness. "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?" ~Mark 8:36

Also, be realistic in your planning, don't try to fit so many chapters in to study knowing that you won't be able to complete it.
Guard your time, don't let other un-planned activites snatch your time to study, or important stuff like daily devotion, church, DG, cell group etc.
Un-planned activities can be like (talking on the phone for hours, chatting on MSN, visiting face-book and blogging, hanging out with friends, watching TV, DAY-DREAMING and SLEEPING TOO MUCH, LONG snack & toilet breaks etc.) Once you cut down the unncessary, you would find more time to study. Work yout time round the IMPORTANT STUFF, not studies first, then if have time then go for Church, PDA, DG, cell group etc.

Hi Crusaders,

Before this blog turns to collect cobwebs and dust, perhaps it's time to bring some spark and keep it back up to date.
This 2 weeks, our focus is on SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS and we have been given for those who faithfully came for last week's PDA, blessing packets to give to our friends.
Within each packet, there's goodies and an encouragement card to bless your friends in this busy exam weeks. You know, when exams comes, the stress and uptight-ness arises and people start to have short fuses, and the competitiveness builds up. Well, as children of God, we are so blessed because we do not need to let our situations determine how we behave, because we can choose to submit our will to God and nail our flesh.

We can take joy and be reminded that we are called to be overcomers, do I hear an AMEN to that!

7But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. ~ 2 Corinthians 4:7-9

16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. ~ 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Really desire for you in the midst of busy-ness, to not take your focus off God but to learn to respond to situations in such a way that is pleasing to God. I have observed that many of us, when faced under pressure, often grumble and keep complaining and the words "very stress ah" keep coming out from our mouths. My dears, you don't need to do that, that would only make you even more stressful.

6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7

It's time to apply Philippians 4: 6 -7 into our situations and continue to know that God is still at work, molding your character into the likeness of Christ for His glory.

We're very privileged to have Amy Lau from East Asia School of Theology to share with us at this week's PDA (Our weekly fellowship meetings) on the book of Jonah.

Personal Background

a. Jonah, son of Amittai, from Gath Hepher (2 Kings 14:25) which lay about 3 miles north of Galilee, making Jonah an Israelite.

b. A zealous patriot, strongly Jewish (Jonah 1:10)

c. A prophet during the reign of Jeroboam II (Israel, 793-752 B.C.; 2 Kings 14:23-27).

Prior to Amos and Hosea
Gave prophetic message concerning the geographical expansion of northern kingdom, Israel
An unwilling prophet to Nineveh

Nineveh/Assyria

a. Nineveh lay east of the Tigris river. It was part of a city-state complex that formed the capital of Assyria.

b. Assyria was a dominant world power for about three centuries (9th - 6th C B.C.)

The name Assyria came from a city-state named Asshur which lay on the western bank of Asshur (var. Ashur'Assur) was also the name of the sun-god that was prominent in the worship culture of the Assyrians.

c. Northen kingdom Israel fell to the Assyrians in 722B.C.

d. Nineveh fell to the Babylonians in 612 B.C.

The Book Of Jonah

a. Located in the Prophets section, but actually a historical narrative.

b. Contains only about 8 English words of prophecy (5 in Hebrew).

Q: What was the result of the LORD hurling a strong wind on the sea?

Q: As the ship was about to break up, what effect did this have on the sailors?

A: v5 Then the sailors became afraid.

Q: What did the sailors do as a result of their fear?

A: v5 and every man cried to his god, and they threw the cargo...into the sea.

Q: What did Jonah do in contrast to the sailors?

A: v5 But Jonah had gone below into the hold of the ship, lain down and fallen sound asleep.

Q: What was the result of Jonah telling the sailors that he worshipped YHWH God of heaven who made the sea and the dry land?

A: v10 Then the men became extremely frightened

Q: What did Jonah say will happen if they threw him into the sea?

A: v12 Then the sea will become calm for you.

Q: Why couldn't the sailors row to the land?

A: v13 for the sea was becoming stormier against them.

Q: What was the response of the sailors as a result of the sea becoming calm after they threw Jonah into the sea?

Applicational Thought

What do these two chapters tell me about God?

When we disobey God, people around us would get affected. Do you care if the people around you are not saved, what are you doing about it?
What keeps you from doing what you know is God's will for you to do?
Who is your 'Nineveh'? Are you running away from your 'Nineveh'?
Are you caught in a fish belly situation - helpless, beyond your control?
Are you getting comfortable in being inside the 'fish belly'?
How can a person get out of a fish belly situation?

Basic facts on time management

1. We all waste time

2. We cannot change time

3. Time is the important resource of mankind

4. We cannot do anything to increase our time, just live with it.

5. We can only steward time

6. We can do anything, but we cannot do everything (Have a focused life! Know what's your calling, do that ONE THING God wants you to do.)

7. We all procrastinate

In the olden days, they don't have watches but have time. Today, we have watches but have no time!

Timely Advice About Time:

1. Become time conscious

be aware how you use it. It's the most valuable commodity! Just like money, the best use of time is to invest it.

The more conscious you are, you'll find yourself having more time

2. Make a personal time log (Activity: Using post-it notes & A3 paper)

3. Identify & eliminate time wasters

4. Place a value on each activity (activities you can't do without, eg. meals, study, church, QT)

5. Result-oriented vs. activity-oriented

Left (Result-oriented), Right (Activity-oriented)

Never measure your success by how busy you are. You can be busy doing nothing.

6. Understand the value of planning

When planning ask:

7. Stay on your AGENDA (Your agenda and priority is on God)

8. Keep Responsibility where it belongs, schedule your priorities

Movements is like a forest, it starts from a seed.

It's a renewing cycle: more fruit > more seeds > more trees

God wants us to change the world starting from where you are!

Start with YOURSELF!

You can't bring someone else to somewhere you've not been!

Movements is not about doing the great things, it's about PEOPLE.

It's doing the small things that makes a BIG DIFFERENCE.

For every student to know, there MUST be that SOMEONE!

How to be that someone?

1. SOMEONE who truly follows Jesus

2. SOMEONE who is willing to reach his/her campus

3. SOMEONE who will be serious about his/her relationship with God

A big welcome to all of you freshmen who joined us on Wednesday. I'm sure you all had lots of fun, dressing up as sheep (Pink Arni), the real wacky group games and hearing from God's word, cardboard testimonies and get to know new friends!

Well, this sure ain't the last time we'll gather together as a mnistry. We have PDA (Phileodelphia) every Wednesday from 3-5.30pm. We ain't referring to your mobile or that BGR Public Display of Affection here, gross. haha. It's our weekly fellowship meetings with 2 objectives:

1. To be an authentic community where there is shared vision & encouraged lives

2. To create an environment where God’s Word is desired, studied and taught

We have really awesome programmes lined up for you to dig deep into God's word and get to create an authentic Christian "family" on campus to spur one another in our Faith. So yeah, stay tuned for more PDA updates.

Wanna give special mention to the Recruitment Comm'09 members:

Samantha, Tricia, Silas, Alyssa, Joel, Sean, Rachel, Howard, Samuel P., David, Elizabeth Lew, Jin Ping & Ivin.

And everybody who have helped in one way or another. (:

LM-AGM & Ministry Closure

Our AGM began with Ivin addressing the crusaders.

It was the liveliest AGM ever, with crusaders asking questions and it meant very well that they were concerned about the ministry.

Our new president, Jia Xian addressing the crusaders. He said one thing, " He can choose to be a Pharisee or a servant." He chooses to be a servant for God. Praise God for his humility. God has worked tremendously in this man's life, for him to be who he is today. God has raised him up and stretched him even more, because he has a willing heart to always serve the master.

1 Samuel 16:7(NIV): "...The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV): But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

Oh, and we featured a surprise staff appreciation video. It was great to see how they were caught by surprise. Staff, you are deeply loved by us & always loved unconditionally by Our Heavenly Father.

WACKY GAMES DAY

Crusade was not "MIA-missing in action" during the study break aka "holidays".

Although the study break was flooded with projects, muggings for upcoming tests and church camps, 20-odd crusaders and two of their friends,turned up for WACKY GAMES DAY last thursday. That day's agenda was not all just fun and games alone.En route, we hoped that many new friendships were formed and that everyone left with a renewed sense of union and identity with this Body of Christ on Campus.

Games like wacko, runner and catcher, captain's ball, dodge ball and water bombs got crusaders hovering around the basketball court and exercising their muscles. The highlight of the day was water bomb. Crusaders were split into 4 teams and had to appoint a captain each. The captain had a paper stuck to their back and they could sit on a chair to protect it.

Aim: To protect the captain's paper. When the water bomb game began, crusaders threw off their self-dignity and civility and unleashed their wild side. They sprung into action and invaded foreign teams' territory. Some darted across the basket ball court while artfully dodging the water bombs tossed at them while some stayed to protect their captains.

After getting drenched and playing like there was no tomorrow, we cleared the remnants and ended the event. But it was not over. We washed up and proceeded to the North Canteen for Lunch fellowship.

A crusader recounted the event to her nyp pre-believer classmates(who were supposed to come, but went AWOL),over projects later in the day. A tinge of regret settled in them and one of them asked, "Will you all(crusade) be organizing this kind of event again?"

For those who came, maybe you didn't know that we changed the venue to the basketball court because we didn't know we had to book the hockey pitch beforehand. But God had it all planned. By His grace, we managed to secure the basketball court and it actually saved us lots of time trying to mark out the boundaries for the games and the trouble of avoiding the water sprinklers at the hockey pitch.

We have much to thank God for-for the crusaders who came and their friends they brought,for His grace in securing the premise,His protection,good weather and for a smooth run of the day's activities. But most importantly, His love that was poured out that day-for every smile and joyous moment shared amongst the company of believers who after championing the myriad of games, are now fresh to champion the spiritual battle grounds of NYP, especially with nakedi campaign starting next week!

Campus Crusade Challenge Cup

In the much anticipated match up against Ngee Ann CCC, the NYP CCC Team won the game with a convincing 8-4 scoreline, much to the delight to NYP's manager-coach-player, Brother Ivin, NYP's Captain Brother Jia Xian and the rest of the team.

In the 5-a-side futsal match, The NYP Team took an astounding lead of 6-0 in the 1st Half, many thanks to goals by Brothers Ivin(2), Jia Xian(1) and Frankie who scored a Hattrick.

The 2nd Half however, saw the resilient Ngee Ann Teamscoring 4 goals throughout the half. Still, with goals from Brothers Jia Xian and Frankie, placed NYP in a comfortable win.

The Campus Crusade Challenge Cup will be with us for awhile.

At the end of the day, it isn't about winning or losing, it isn't about who played well, it is about putting your faith in God to do the impossible and praise him whether rain or shine.

Prayer Request

It has struck my attention once again that we should not be ignorant on the simplest things in life.

Last week we were blessed to hear our Brother Moses's testimony about his sickly daughter. Overcome with emotion our Brother Moses Prayed and Fast in faith amongst earthly difficulties.

Blessed by the Lord, she was healed.

However since that day, her condition has been at the steady decline. Therefore I call all Crusaders to continue to Pray (and Fast) for our Brother Moses and his family in faith.

We are Sara and Cheryl Lim from PD Committee.
We're sure you've heard by now about, " Engage 2007" & with all your heart told your Heavenly Father: "This Much I Want You, God!"

Engage is a season of Prayer and Fasting where Crusaders unplug from the busyness of our lives and stay Engaged with God.
It is also a platform for us to Come Back and Draw Close to God and for us to Pray for the Lost Souls (maybe family, friends, people whom you may not know out in the world, etc.) who do not yet know about Christ.

As you've seen from the Engage website, it says, "God has used Students (us!) in many ways to start Revival in their Own Campuses and ultimately, the World."
Therefore, I really urge all of us to start Praying and Fasting for this upcoming event. Pray for God's Presence to be in NYP. Pray and Fast for Revival to happen in Our Campus.

We want to Reclaim NYP for our God, Jesus Christ.

* Prayer Meetings (@ Mac):
o 1st session: 12 noon - 1 pm,
o 2nd session: 1 pm - 2 pm
o 8th Nov (Thurs): Humility & Repentance
o 9th Nov (Fri): A Call To Persevere
o 12th Nov (Mon): Revival
o 15th Nov (Thurs): God's Judgment & Love
o 16th Nov (Fri): Are You Willing to Stand In The Gap?
